Creating a Storybook--The Piano Mouse
The idea for the story The Piano Mouse was conceived when Lindsay was a school teacher in the Village of Innisfree, Alberta in 2002. Next to the newer Innisfree Delnorte School sits the old schoolhouse where she taught piano lessons in the evenings on a well-worn antique upright piano.
The “Old White School” still stands. The building has since been renovated and renamed the Millennium Building. It is also now home to the Village of Innisfree Library.
Piano recitals for Lindsay's music students were held in the Senior’s Hall on main street and that building was the inspiration for the story’s Community Center for the Arts.
Was there a mouse in the school who enjoyed the music? Possibly.
